Curricular Travel

WELCOME! Join online admissions sessions this spring for 2025-26 applicants

Poly’s innovative curricula feature exciting travel opportunities during which students reinforce their learning on the ground and in the field. Curricular travel to the American South, the Navajo Nation, Martinique, Argentina, the battlefields of World War I, Italy, Spain, China, and Cambodia, among other destinations, invites students to venture beyond their comfort zones and explore their own country and the world in new and transformative ways.

Students on a trip to Memphis, Montgomery, and Birmingham were stunned into silence by the weight of the histories in those cities. Their thoughtful encounter with the past was later captured by this statement by Yashimabet D. ‘20:

“It was very moving, and it put me in a very observant and uplifting place. I saw the hardships my ancestors had to go through, but it inspired me to not let their hard work go to waste.”

In Argentina, students hiked a glacier, explored Patagonia and the Iguazu Falls on the border with Brazil, and learned to dance the tango. And after visiting an artists’ project during a Concert Choir trip to Cuba, Shakaa C. ‘18 said, “It was humbling to see the great passion and care that each individual invested in their craft.”

Our curricular travel, like the classes from which it emanates, reinforces our commitment to exposing students to experiences that challenge them to grow in multifaceted ways. Part of students’ individual exploratory journeys, our travel programs also bind us in shared opportunities to advance our knowledge and appreciation of the world beyond our campus.

Our trip to the Navajo Nation was transformative, immersing students in a different culture, history, and climate.
